Cleaning up

I am a obsessed collector. I tend to go overboard at times and lately I have been thinking I might have a little issue with my collecting. This past weekend it hit me that I was on the verge of getting junky! All of the sudden while watching American Pickers some of those people they pick from, didn't look so bad. WHAAAT? Then and there I decided enough was enough. It was time to clean up! Of course true to my creative brain (that never rest)  I started moving my eyes around the room. Then it all started.. I decided to moved some furniture (which I will show you later). Hubs was trying to watch the race so he was thrilled at my new "I can do it myself" venture. His favorite thing to say to me is "your killing me". Suddenly, one large piece of furniture was out of the living room. There, I felt better...(for all of two minutes). All you creative people know the routine. You sit down to rest and your eyes do another big sweep across the room. You know the thought of something's not right.  I don't know about you but I can't rest till I straighten THAT picture, or move the asymmetrical doo dad sitting on a desk.

Getting a room decluttered is kind of like the rule of putting on jewelry of when you think you are finished, take one piece off. The same goes for makeup, some is good but too much and you end up looking like and old lady who has put make up on but can't see well enough to put it on. I'm not so far from that point either but that is another story for another day.

I wanted to show you some before and after pics of two area's I hit up for declutter. I'm not sure all will stay gone I will have to live with it for a couple of days before I decide. You be the judge.

Here is the desk are in the living room before.. a lot going on.. my eyes felt confused.. lol

After

TV Center before

Not bad but kind of cluttered.. a lot going on and to take in.

After

See how much cleaner and neater that looks.

Do yourself a favor and just let go of some of your stuff! Meanwhile I will do battle with my mind not to put all my junk back where it was.

Sincerely,

Cow obsession

I am coming back into blogging after a few years being away. My initial blog was SouthernHomeSweetHome.blogspot.com. I have missed blogging and after posting pics on my personal page and in groups I was encouraged to start my own site again. Laylaloou is my sweet, well kind of mean/sweet dog.. I work from home full time and she is my company during the day and has her own spot in my office. More pics of Layla soon.. So her I go jumping right back into the blogging world. Let's start off talking about (cows)!

Recently my 82 y/o Mom stopped over looked around and asked, "do you think you live on a farm"? Hmm.. I am used to her what comes up comes out attitude. After my initial response of "I wish" I started thinking about animals displays in my home as my Mother begged me to take down my picture of cows in my kitchen. She was very tactful (lol).. "I love your kitchen but I have to tell you that picture does NOT fit in! Of course we had to do our familiar dance of Mom it's my house not yours.. lol Then I got to thinking do I have too many, am I obsessed with animals? I took inventory and discovered I have a lot of certain types of animals. I will start off with a few pics of my cows. While I was putting together a few pics I wondered what started my whole issue with cows. What came to mind was two different experiences as a child that might account with my love of the image of cows. When I was 7 my parents suddenly split. It was a traumatic spring.. There was no warning, no preparing, just suddenly packed up by some strangers and moved out of our home. One of our first lands during the initial separation was with a family friend, Vera, and her son. I can only remember one thing that spring and summer and that was a trip to Tennessee to see Vera's brother. It was a peaceful time during a mixed up time.. One of the things I learned during that trip was how to milk a cow! I guess in some way it was therapeutic. The meadows and pastures were beautiful and peaceful and a release from reality.
The next influential experience was probably the commercials in the (old days) of the famous Elsie the Cow. Man was she awesome.. She could make you think the only way you could possibly grow up healthy and strong was to drink milk. She had to be the most beautiful mother cow ever. She pimped milk for Borden Milk. lol

For what ever that is worth that would be my excuse.. not sure if there is a bit a validity to it .. I might just like cows.. what about you guys.. do you love them or hate them?

Elsie the Cow was adorable.. google her pics! precious!  Now who couldn't love cows after exposure to Elsie during their childhood.
